Jasper - Prince George: Yellowhead Highway across BC
This section is available in English and Deutsch
Driving
time: approximately
3 1/2 hours, plus stops.
If traveling west from Jasper, this is the beginning of a long stretch of driving. We will leave the distinctive ridged peaks of the Rocky Mountain National Parks and travel through forestry country to the working city of Prince George. Along the way we will pass the biggest peak in the Rockies - Mt Robson. There aren't many communities of size along the way and that is part of the appeal. The Fraser River will side up to us many times along this section and we will be following a route made famous by the Overlanders in the 1860's.
If we are coming from the west towards the Rockies - then this will be the last section. There is just one highway junction between Prince George and Jasper, at Tete Jaune Cache we will have the choice to follow highway 5 south to Kamloops. Keep a close watch for wildlife as viewing opportunities are abbundant.
